Now that I have completed the service learning placement for this class. All the things I thought about being a teacher and how rewarding being in the profession would be was all right. It just made certain that this is what I want to do. I got to see the good and the bad about being a teacher. I loved being around all of the kids and how amazing their energies was and their souls were. I love the idea of being able to change someones life for the better. If I can be the best part about someones day it makes my day. I love making people happy and I want to strive to do this as a teacher.
The service learning has definitely influenced my decision. It has made me fall in love with teaching even more. So many times we take teachers for granted. No one wants to be a teacher, it's a joke that they don't make any money at all. Even if teachers get paid poorly is true there is so much more reward to teaching than just money. I want to be able to look back on my life and know I made a change and a difference in this world. I want to end every day knowing I tried my best to be kind. Being a teacher will allow me to feel this at the end of every day and when I look back on my life I will know without a doubt in my heart that I made a difference even if it is just one kids life.
My next steps are to get a degree and be able to become a teacher. I want to start my career as soon as I can. Im gonna take some breaks along the way but I want to be able to start this journey sooner rather than later in my life. I got a job with amricorp for the summer. I will be teacher assisting in a high school. My first choice was elementary but I am still very blessed and grateful for the opportunity to be getting such amazing experience in teaching. I am hopeful that this will grow my love and passion for learning.
