In the class the I am doing my service hours in, there is a boy that can speak little to no English. I am able to help translate for him and the teacher. So far, it has been a really cool experience. He is very good at reading given his circumstances. He just needs some help with understanding what he is reading and learning the words in the English language. I commend him for his bravery and positive attitude coming into class everyday knowing he is going to have a hard time understanding what is going on and being so diverse from all the other children. One thing that really helps is the routine that is provided by the teacher. The Brown Vs. Board of Education definitely played part in making his situation possible. He is able to have the same opportunities as everyone else. I am really appreciative of this opportunity that is now available to everyone. I think everyone deserves these same opportunities and privileges. I am excited to work with more diverse children and be able to provide education to all.
